Welcome! Please fill out the form below. But first some information about the scheme …
Dear parent/guardian,
Here is some key information about the Cambridge Access Programme:
The Cambridge Access Programme is a university access scheme designed by current Cambridge undergraduates and run by Cambridge Students’ Union (Cambridge SU).
The Programme involves four months of mentoring, including a minimum of weekly messages, with a current student studying within the mentee's desired area of study. The participants will also have access to myth busting webinars about Cambridge University. These will be provided by University staff on college support and Admissions information, as well as by current students from underrepresented backgrounds sharing their lived experiences of studying at Cambridge.
The Programme's participants are also invited to an in person experience day accompanied by parents or guardians to see what Cambridge is like. The day will be hosted in a college and participants will be able to attend lectures and talks from current students, alongside other activities.
The core online mentoring and online events are free to all mentees.
Each Mentor on the scheme is DBS checked and given a code of conduct, which all participants in the Programme are required to sign. They also undertake mandatory safeguarding training based on NSPCC Child Protection. All online 1-1 communication takes place on Brightside which is a monitored platform for their safety. If you have any worries about safeguarding for your child, you can talk to the SU's safeguarding leads at safeguarding@cambridgesu.co.uk.
The Programme is a fantastic opportunity for your child to experience what it's like to study at Cambridge and we hope that, should they be selected, they will have an extremely enjoyable experience. If you have any concerns or questions, please get in touch.
Best wishes,
Isabella and Sarah
